If she dresses scantily she deserves to be raped?

There is no relationship between what a girl wears and the foolishness of a man. It’s high time we stopped listening to this nonsense of an excuse. Dressing provocatively, if for anything should be a turn-off for any
decent man. Seeing a lady dressed inappropriately (by your standard) should not trigger animalistic tendencies of rape, it should however prompt you to offer a friendly word of advice that if she was going to be taken seriously in life then she ought to dress right, or better still bury your opinion and keep your mouth shut.

I wonder why I didn’t read this earlier but about a month ago it was all over the internet that 34% of Nigerians agree that indecent dressing is the main cause of rape. And then, the Ugandan Youths affairs Minister Ronald Kibule, during his speech to the youths said, “…I have talked to the Inspector general of Police in Kampala to see how she was dressed,….if she was dressed scantily and got raped, no one should be arrested”.

Are you kidding me? How can a Minister consider an inhumane thing like this, not to talk of say it out loud.  The victim of rape is never at fault and rather than disinhibit the behaviour of rapists, it should be seen as such. Indecent dressing is not even one of the causes of rape, talk less of the main cause. One quick question, when rape is committed by a spouse is it also because of provocative dressing?

If one decides to wear lap-revealing lengths of fabric or boob-analyzing tops and walk on a federal road, then that’s her business. These clothes are in the market, meant to be bought and worn (you can as well meet the necessary authorities to ban the production and sale of these clothes if it concerns you so much). It’s obvious though that she has given you the full permission to look till your eyes pop out and that’s what you should do if you must do something. It’s not an invite to tear her apart, or haven’t you heard? Look but don’t touch—that was the news line in primary school. If she wants you to touch then you won’t have to forcefully do it.

The way people carry this indecent dressing matter on their heads is very disturbing. Even our tertiary institutions have certain dress standards for ladies and one of the reasons is to prevent anything that will distract the lecturers. Oh puh-leeeaaase!!! The lecturers (the guilty ones ofcourse) are still at it. If for anything, they are more distracted now than ever.

Dressing decently is good, it portrays a credible personality and you look more responsible. But what it also does is cover you up. I have good reason to believe that more men (good, bad and ugly) these days are attracted to a lady who is more wholly dressed and covered up. That’s even when the ideas stream in because they want to know what’s underneath that ‘mary-amaka-dress’ that you’ve been hanging over your body, or its more like “your figure is so accentuated in that pretty suit, wonder what you’ll look like without it”.

Rape is not always a sexual crime impulsively committed by a man for sexual gratification, it’s a crime of violence and aggression with its intent most times to overpower, degrade, and humiliate the victim. Someone who is dressed indecently has already degraded herself to a good extent, so the odds are that the more upgraded one is, the more likely you are to be targeted by a rapist.

The demonic act of rape is inexcusable. It’s even more annoying when it’s justified by indecent dressing. Don’t you agree?

    1. Dear Anonymous, i'm guessing you're a guy and you're probably not a virgin. Even if u are, atleast in your lifetime uve come across different types of asses and you didnt hungrily grope them. so if that kind of ass were in front of you i wouldnt expect it to stirr up any ideas that materialise into rape, afterall there's nothing different about this particular one.

  2. Please lets be realistic. I'm looking at d pic above and i'm even getting ideas. She isn't wearing a bra, and lets not even talk about that ass. Her breasts are probably dancing about without restriction and if she's got a fine face, thats just icing on the cake, who wouldnt get a hard-on thinking of all those things? Reconsider ur stand, girls ask for it nd they get it . My 2 cents

    1. Dear anonymous, i'm also guessing ur a guy. Maybe its because i'm not a guy, but getting a hard-on by just staring at that doesn't really make sense to me. but if thats a possibility, then thats actually your problem, it becomes our problem when you act violently on those feelings. With this type of dressing, girls ask for attention, not rape, and they get it.

    1. Stanley, whoever wants to rob you will rob you, whether the money is in your cemented pocket or not. one who isnt a thief would even help you pick up the money if it fell. Indecent dressing cannot justify rape, these rapists will still be rapists with or without body part exposure, Can't you see?

  5. Raj! Nice blog you got here, so proud! Tbh, you are solely looking at this from a feminine viewpoint and that is unfair to men. African men are not used to seeing women half-nude except in the bedroom, seeing such arouses a sense of entitlement and excitement. It is also important to remember that men are naturally perverted. Rape is an inexcusable however and should never be allowed to happen. Dressing indecently in Africa is a pretty daring behaviour considering all the hazards but it might just be worth it in the future when your daughters can wear whatever they like without being judged. So consider your half nudity a sort of freedom fight.

    1. Thank you Soni. lol @ being unfair to men. i beg to disagree with this, men are not naturally perverted. it's just the excuse they give for their wrong doings. But i agree, being something
the african men are not used to, its a daring thing to do, but no matter how much a man is dared he should be the bigger person and walk away. lol @ half nudity freedom fight, i'm sure interested persons will consider it.

  6. Well.... i'd start by saying indecent dressing kills someone's personality. But any guy who is physiologically complete will get thoughts if he stares at a girl wit an indecent dressing for a long time, but that doesn't mean he should rape her. But any girl who feels she has eaten to her satisfaction, dresses up exposing everything in her, and walks along a lonely street like some streets here in Lagos, Hehehehe, her yansh sha go for it. Some guys are just Animals, girls should know that by now.
